FAQS
What is Pave And Go?
Pave and Go is a paving system comprising porcelain stoneware tiles integrated into a polyurethane tile body with pre-formed interlocking perimeter joints. It allows for quick and clean dry installation, without the need for cement screeds or adhesives, for both indoor and outdoor surfaces.
How does the interlocking installation system work?
Each slab features a 2 mm integrated joint around the edge and a vertical ‘click’ interlocking installation system. The tiles are simply aligned and pressed together until they click into place, creating a seamless surface that is ready for immediate use.
On what surfaces can Pave and Go be installed?
The system can be laid on properly compacted gravel or on suitable and regular existing flooring, both indoors and outdoors. It does not require the laying of new concrete screeds or the use of adhesives or self-levelling mortars.
In which contexts is it recommended?
Pave and Go is suitable for residential, contract, commercial and public spaces where high technical performance and quick installation times are required. It is ideal for offices, shops, restaurants, supermarkets, exhibition areas and outdoor spaces with pedestrian or light vehicle traffic.
Is this system only for outdoor use?
No, the system is available in specific versions for both indoor and outdoor use. The Indoor configurations (e.g. 18 mm and 28 mm total thickness) are designed for residential and commercial indoor flooring, while the Outdoor variants are optimised for outdoor spaces.
What thicknesses are available?
The porcelain stoneware used in the Pave and Go system is mainly available in thicknesses of 9.5 mm and 20 mm. These slabs are integrated into a polyurethane tile body, which determines the total thickness of the system (e.g. Indoor configurations of 18 mm and 28 mm).
Are mortars, adhesives or chemical products required?
No, installation is dry-laid and does not require cement mortars, adhesives, levelling compounds or other chemicals. This eliminates drying times, reduces dust and site waste, and allows the surfaces to be used immediately.
Can Pave and Go be installed all year round?
Yes, the system can be installed at any time of year as it is not dependent on temperature and humidity conditions affecting the setting of adhesives or mortars. The fact that no drying time is required makes the installation process extremely flexible in terms of scheduling.
How quick is the installation?
The interlocking system allows for much shorter installation times compared to traditional glued solutions.
In many commercial settings, installation can be carried out while the premises continue to operate, without the need for prolonged closures.
How long does it take before the floor coverings can be used?
The surface is ready for immediate use as soon as the slabs have been laid.
There is no need to wait for mortars or adhesives to set or dry.
What level of mechanical strength does it offer?
Some Pave and Go configurations (e.g. Indoor 28 mm) are designed to withstand loads of up to approximately 2,000 kg, making the system suitable for light vehicle access or heavy-duty shelving.
In general, porcelain stoneware and the polyurethane tile body ensure high performance in terms of load-bearing capacity and resistance to heavy foot traffic.
Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?
Yes, the thicker versions designed for specific intended uses are recommended for public and commercial premises with high footfall.
The floor coverings retain their integrity and stability over time, even with repeated foot and trolley traffic.
How do the joints hold up over time?
The integrated perimeter joint is designed to retain its properties over time, avoiding the deterioration typically associated with joints made using cement mortars.
This ensures that the floor coverings retain their appearance and functionality without the need for frequent joint repairs.
Can the tiles be removed or replaced?
The dry-lay and interlocking installation system make it easier to remove and replace individual tiles if necessary, compared to glued floors. This makes the system particularly suitable for temporary spaces or those subject to reconfiguration (trade fairs, retail outlets, and exhibition areas).
What maintenance does it require?
Routine maintenance is similar to that of a traditional porcelain stoneware floor: cleaning with suitable, non-abrasive detergents and regular removal of dirt and dust. The absence of cement grouts reduces the risk of the joints turning grey or deteriorating.
Is it weather-resistant?
The outdoor versions are designed to withstand the elements, temperature fluctuations and water, making the most of the properties of technical porcelain stoneware. The polyurethane tile body and integrated joints help to ensure the system’s stability even in changing weather conditions.
Are there different styles and sizes available?
Pave and Go uses Emilgroup porcelain stoneware slabs, which are available in a range of colours, finishes and sizes.
This makes it possible to combine technical performance with a design that complements both indoor and outdoor spaces.
What are the advantages compared to a traditional glued floor?
- Significant reduction in application time and no drying time.
- Clean installation, free from dust and residues of mortar or adhesive.
- Can be laid over an existing floor and, if necessary, removed with minimal disruption.
- Durable integrated joint, with a lower risk of aesthetic deterioration over time.
Is it certified or compliant with specific standards?
The system is developed by Emilgroup, which operates in accordance with the main industry standards for porcelain stoneware and flooring systems. For details on certifications (e.g. slip resistance, fire performance and wear resistance), please refer to the latest product data sheets.
